As we explored her feelings, a profound realisation emerged. The crux of the issue? She wasn’t carving out time to think about her life intentionally, let alone plan an extraordinary future. Let’s unpack this because, chances are, her story might mirror your own.

In today’s hustle culture, “busy” is often worn as a badge of honour. Yet, busyness can become a trap, robbing you of clarity, energy, and joy. Without intentionality, life becomes a cycle of putting out fires—reactive, not proactive. My client’s admission revealed what so many high-achievers struggle with: we’re so caught up in the “what” of life that we neglect the “why.”

As a Certified High Performance Coach, one of the most eye-opening lessons I share is this: success isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing what matters. It’s about setting the agenda for your life rather than letting circumstances dictate your path.

Visualising the end result—how it feels, looks, and impacts your life—adds emotional weight to your aspirations, keeping motivation alive even when the going gets tough.

Here’s a bold truth: you don’t need more hours in a day; you need better boundaries around the hours you have. Start by identifying your “non-negotiables.” These are the activities that fuel your growth and joy, whether it’s daily exercise, a morning reflection, or quality time with loved ones.

One simple but transformative practice I recommend is daily planning. Dedicate a few minutes each morning to determine your top three priorities for the day. It sounds deceptively simple, but this habit can dramatically increase your productivity and sense of control.

Leadership isn’t just for CEOs or managers; it starts with leading yourself. Self-leadership is about showing up consistently for your goals and staying accountable to your vision, even when it’s hard. For me, this meant learning to say “no” to distractions and “yes” to what truly mattered—an invaluable skill I refined during my corporate career.

Even when you’re doing the work, imposter feelings can creep in, whispering, “Who are you to dream so big?” The key to overcoming these thoughts isn’t to suppress them but to acknowledge and reframe them. Instead of focusing on what you lack, reflect on the skills and accomplishments that brought you here. Trust me, this simple shift can quiet that little voice of self-doubt and reignite your confidence.

High performance isn’t about burning the candle at both ends. It’s about creating a balanced, sustainable rhythm that allows you to excel in all areas of life—clarity, energy, courage, productivity, and influence. This holistic approach ensures you’re not just surviving but thriving.
