Without delving into too many details, the challenges I’ve witnessed recently have included dealing with a husbands brain tumour, grieving for a young wife/mother taken by breast cancer, caring for multiple foster children, helping a daughter in her gay relationship and caring for a daughters transgender challenges, not to mention the seemingly more “usual” divorce, custody issues and struggling as a single parent challenges.
For any one of these people, their individual (and sometimes multiple) challenges would be enough for any of us to ‘cut them some slack’ if they weren’t positive about life. But the amazing thing is they didn’t need it. For each and every one that I spoke to they were working through their challenge. It’s not to say they didn’t have their “pit of despair” moments, but all without exception had found a way to keep getting themselves out of the pit. And the way they did it was Hope.
This is best described in The Avatar Path 2 Private Lessons:
“Hope is an attitude that things will get better. It is an expectation of success. It is a motivation to get going and to keep going. It is an opportunity. It is a candle that will burn long enough for you to make it to the next candle, but if you don’t move, it will burn out and leave you in darkness.
The best way to renew your hope of things getting better is to make a little progress in that direction. Hope has a short life span if you only hope.”
What do you hope for? What action are you taking to move forward? Who is supporting you on your path?
