We’ve come to the end of January, the New Year celebrations are over (even the lunar calendar ones!) Those New Year resolutions may not seem as obtainable as you previously thought… the doubt is starting to creep in… But that’s not “bad news”, it’s just the reality of striving for GREAT THINGS, right? Reaching for the next level will always bring SO many more challenges than you can anticipate. I know. Last year was an interesting year for me. I left everything I knew behind. And it was harder…. and more rewarding…. than I ever imagined. We took off around the world, myself, my husband, and our two youngest children without our eldest at her insistence. We didn’t have jobs, but we continued to run our own businesses. The kids didn’t go to school, but learned through distance education and experience. We didn’t know anyone, but we got to know each other really really well. I remember 7 years ago when I was still a corporate employee and it was my “dream goal” to work, learn and live on the road. I *GET IT*. Change is HARD. Growing is difficult. Manifesting your dreams demands daily excellence. Changing your lifestyle, scaling your dreams, improving your relationships, managing all these opportunities…. it’s tough. You know that. But, what made the MOST difference for me? Well that’s the point of my article today. I want to share how I not only survive but thrive through it all.

The #1 Key to Success has been a commitment to my own SELF-DEVELOPMENT.

I never took my learning for granted. I never “hoped” that things would just magically happen. Instead I mapped out the actions I needed to take and got the training and coaching support I needed. I knew I didn’t have the emotional, social and business capabilities to get to the next level. I dealt with the doubt by being real and facing the honest truth, using this to drive me to up skill, to motivate my learning and develop more mastery. I read books, I did courses, I leaned on my coaches, I woke up every morning and planned with real vision and detail. I broke down my goals, tracked my progress and demanded more. I did not let up on my self-development work. That’s what you need to do. Cause if you leave your learning, your growing, your goals and dreams to chance, then you’ll always be settling for less. My wish for you in 2020 is that you make your own commitment to your own self-development. And remember, if you need any support, I’d love to chat with you. Here’s to your success in 2020 and beyond!
