There is much to be concerned about given the current circumstances all around the world.

But it’s a balancing act – because when we increase our concern we reduce our control and become REACTIVE.

We worry about the economy.  We spend more time listening to the news.  We take on the political views of others.  We become concerned with what other people doing.  We focus on what others are thinking about us.  We allow the weather to affect our moods.  We become despondent about natural disasters.   We spend our time thinking about the what ifs like depression, weapons and war.

We waste a lot of time and energy reacting to things we can’t control.

So, if we spend more time and energy focused on issues that are within our control like our attitude and behaviour, what we read, what we buy, how we live, what we listen to, what skills we learn, where we travel to, what we do for work; we become PROACTIVE rather than reactive.

What does that look like in the current environment?  We recognise we are all trying to do our very best.  We stop compulsively consuming what hurts us, from food to news.  We identify our emotions.  We become aware of the situation and think how to act.  We evaluate information before spreading something false.  We think of others and see how we can help them.  We make our talents available to those who need them.  We live in the present and focus on the future.  We are empathetic with ourselves and others.  We thank and appreciate others.  We keep a happy emotional state and spread hope.  We look for ways to adapt to new changes.  We practice quietude, patience, relationships and creativity.  We focus on who we want to be.

There is no time like the present to focus on what you can control.
