AAA what?
Mastering our Mind is one of the keys to truly living the life we desire, and the AAA is a great place to start!
So, what do I mean by a AAA mindset?
Let’s consider that one of the first steps in taking true personal accountability, or if you prefer, control over our lives, is mastering our mind.
Control is an interesting concept. Lots of people refer to themselves as “control freaks”. I know I certainly used to!
But I realised the “freak” came into play because I was focused on trying to control the things I really couldn’t control. Like the environment, the weather, the government, other people’s behaviour, what they said, what they did; when you really consider these things, none of them are actually in our control at all so trying to control them makes us a little freaky!
True control is being personally accountable for the things which each individual truly has control over like our mindset.
How I think and feel is all under my control. I can choose how I respond, irrespective of what’s happening in the environment or what others are saying or doing. And that’s the control you have too 🙂
So, if being in control of my mindset is my responsibility, what’s the best way to do that – I believe it’s the AAA mindset.
The first A is for AIM
Are you aiming for goals that are definitely your own? Or are those goals that have been “suggested” to you by parents, teachers, friends, colleagues, siblings, others? Are your aspirations your own or are you living your live in pursuit of someone else’s dream? Is your AIM yours or someone else’s?
The second A is for ATTENTION
Are you focused or distracted? Do you use your time focused on your goals? Or are you distracted by social media, your inbox, your phone? Is your ATTENTION focused on your life’s work or are you being distracted by busy work?
The third A is for ATTITUDE
Do you have an open or closed attitude? Are you open to learning and feedback? Or are you fixed in your approach? Are you open to different perspectives or is your view the only one? Is your ATTITUDE open or is it closed?
Having true control and taking personal accountability for your thoughts isn’t easy. Just like when you first start exercising it isn’t easy, but the more you practice the stronger you get. But just like with exercise, in order to stay fit (physically or mentally) and in control then we have to keep up the practice.
By concentrating your AIM, ATTENTION and ATTITUDE you will go a long way to continuing to master your mind and having a AAA mindset.
